Continental Grand Prix 4000 S II Tire
- The Grand Prix 4000 S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tire on the market
- Super grippy, thanks to its state of the art Black Chili rubber compound
- Tough with a healthy tread layer and of course our Vectran™ anti puncture breaker layer underneath.
- Check out this PDF review found on the Conti website
I used this tire during the summer of 2011 (25mm width) and found it to be a great tire, even on marginal roads. It seems to just as good as resisting flats as the Grand Prix 4-Season. According to Continental (see chart in photo boxes above), this tire has slightly less rolling resistance than the Grand Prix 4-Season. It has only one layer of the Vectran Breaker, instead of two like the 4-Seasons — this would provide a better ride than the 4-Season, but would not be quite as long lasting. According to Conti, it has the same puncture resistance as the 4-Season and more than the GatorSkins.
